Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand stress in ophthalmic optics students and to determine its effect on satisfaction with their major program.

Methods: This study involved 215 ophthalmic optics students in Chungnam, who responded to an online survey. A survey tool used to revise and supplement the life stress scale for college students was used, and the survey questions covered future problems (2), economic problems (3), academic problems (4), and value problems (3). All items were evaluated using a Likert 5-point scale. Higher scores indicated greater stress in life.

Results: The total score for stress for the participants (male: 102, female: 113) was 2.68 on average. Academic problems had the highest score (2.92 points), followed by future problems (2.87 points), values problems (2.72 points), and economic problems (2.21 points). Stress was negatively correlated with major satisfaction. The regression analysis revealed that among the sub-domains of stress, academic and future problems had a significant negative (?) effect on satisfaction with the major program.

Conclusions: The lower the stress of ophthalmic optics students, the higher the degree of satisfaction with the major program.
